Every spring semester Penn State Greek Life celebrates their fraternity heritage by holding the Greek Week competition. The week is filled with all sorts of events, each with an underlying competitive nature. Every year the week starts off with the Red Ribbons AIDS walk which ends with a massive kickoff party. Food, games, dunk tanks, and DJs all line the street of Fraternity Row to bring our Greek community together.
The main competitive events throughout the week include: 5 spot soccer tournament hosted by Red Bull, volley ball, tug of war, flag football, sorority window painting, basketball, and of course, a chariot race. Throughout the week there are also several community service and programming events to keep in touch with our surrounding community. Community service events include Greek Sweep—a clean up of the downtown area—a canned food drive for the local food bank, AIDS awareness day, a blood drive, and a variety of other service events. Programming offers a great variety showcase, a step show, the Greek pageant for Mr. /Miss Greek Week, and a benefit concert.
The entire week, along with many events leading up to it, continues to be a great way to bring our Greek Community together in the spirit of competition. Each year brings some new surprises and a new series of events to keep things interesting. We’ll see you out there!
