Many years ago, Blue White Weekend became an opportunity for alumni to return to State College and reconnect with the chapter. Brothers young and old spent the day cooking out and competing in various yard games, including volleyball. Until one year, somebody decided that beach volleyball was needed and trucked in sand to build a court. Thus was born Snakes in the Sand, as a snake is our mascot and the time was spent in the sand.
Although we no longer offload hundreds of pounds of sand into our parking lot to build a beach volleyball court that’s three feet deep, the name remains the same. Snakes in the Sand is looked forward to by alumni and collegians alike and will continue to embody the brotherhood inherent in our organization.
